We are living in challenging times and 2020 has been the year that has unleashed many strange events. Let’s jamb to it, we now exist in COVID-19 world filled with pandemic-popularized words like lockdown, Shutdown, Curfew, first and second waves etc.
But as a human race, we have been forced to rely on technology as we adopt to alternative lifestyles like, the need to connect and stay in touch with friends and loved ones.
And throughout this period social media has been a hive of discussion with many trending topics relating to the ‘new normal’.
Here are my top three social media trends that are related to the Information communications technology and entertainment sectors.
1. Zoom Classes
The children are home and now rely on online classes. Zoom has emerged as the leading service provider in this regard and the company grew by more than 183,000 enterprise customers in March 2020 and boasted fiscal year earnings of $328.2 million. Zoom jumped a 169% from the previous year (Rasay, 2020).

COVID-19 has been distributive in the negative sense of the word and has crippled earnings for musicians the world over. However, this situation has also created a unique opportunity for musicians and artist to collaborate and host virtual concerts on social media platforms. innovative Concert ideas in this new reality continue to emerge.
3. Streaming Church Services
Early adopters to technology have for years utilized the virtual church technique but COVID-19 had brought an abrupt end to the traditional congregation as we know it.

Coincidentally, my time with Salford University falls in the midst of 2020 Global pandemic and many of our course modules have had to consider the new reality in which we live.
